Kids Soccer Drills

In kids soccer drills, it’s surprising that warm up before playing is considered unimportant. Being a coach, I’d let it be known that warming up is not only compulsory but is even critical to begin the day’s play at a brighter and healthier note. Coaches in youth soccer drills do not take this factor into consideration. This has a direct affect on the health of players in form of injuries while practicing.

This article will provide you an insight into warming up techniques for the team. Teach the kids to include all the body movements that allow all muscles in the body to get worked up. This is by far the best way to activate all the body parts. Warming up in haste could cause cramping or stiffness of the body muscles.

Tip 1: Have the players jog for about 5-7 minutes initially. A few minutes of jogging and then moving on to sprinting is the best proposition. In this, the pulse rate should reach 120 beats per minute. Yet, the rate should increase gradually. Next, make the players sway their legs, front and back, which should take roughly 10 minutes each. To conclude, the players should vigorously stretch their body more than 20 yards.

Tip 2: But make sure that this active stretching over 20 yards goes with a few warm up exercises of its own. Like the players can bounce backward and forward. The players can also be taught cross stepping. Also teach them high-knee carioca. You can have these performed similar to sprinting.

Backward run is also a highly effective warm up drill in soccer drills for kids. But the best way to carry it out is to raise the heels up to the butt. It is a little hard to practice this but it is the only correct way of doing it.

Tip 3: There are other essential warm up exercises in kids soccer drills that build up the momentum to the actual session. You can direct your players to play with circles and hoops. These give an added element to the skipping exercises. Also have your players do the cross-over hopping. It is Quick Hip Swings which is e very efficient and proven method of warming up the body, although it’s a little superior.

Next, make the players do long shuffles with turns in the middle. Tell the players to practice backward and forward leg swings. This activity is considered as extremely useful in body toning. In the same way, high leg forwards and backwards is also very effective.

Tip 4: Stretching must be appropriately and effectively performed. What works best for the legs is stretch hinging. Ensure that every kid works out hamstring, quadriceps, groin and calf without exceptions. It is stretching that helps in increasing the range of muscles together with preventing any injury to the player.

In soccer drills for youth, another important thing to ensure is that kids don’t do too much of anything. They tend to get carried over by enthusiasm and injure themselves unnecessarily.

Kids Soccer Drills

It’s sad to know that people fail to appreciate the importance of warming up in kids soccer drills. It is obligatory for me as a coach to highlight the fact that warm up sessions before practice is compulsory and helps players begin their day at a brilliant note. This issue is conveniently ignored as unimportant by the coaches in youth soccer drills. This has a direct affect on the health of players in form of injuries while practicing.

This article gives you some nice tips on how to get the team warmed up. Train the team to use the body movements in a way that all the muscles get worked up. This is the most effective way to liven up all muscles in the body. Rigorous sessions can result in stiffness and cramping of the muscles.

Tip 1: First and foremost the players should jog for 5-7 minutes. It is advocated that players begin printing only after a light jogging.
This must increase the pulse rate to at least 120 beats per minute. But, slow improvement is better. This should be followed by players moving their legs backward and forward for approximately 10 minutes each. Lastly, have them actively stretch their body over 20 yards.

Tip 2: Having said that, do remember that even this active stretching over 20 yards comes with some warm up drills of its own. For example, have your players skip back and forth. The players can also be taught cross stepping. They must also be taught high-knee carioca. These must be executed as if sprinting.

Running towards the back also accounts a very efficient warm up drill in soccer drills for kids. Yet, the correct method of doing it is to rise up the heels to the butt. No doubt, it is a little difficult to practice it this way but there’s no other way of correctly doing it.

Tip 3: There are other essential warm up exercises in kids soccer drills that build up the momentum to the actual session. The players can be taught to hop with swings and loops. These result in giving an extra edge to the skipping exercises. You can also make them cross-over skip. Quick Hip Swings is somewhat difficult to practice but it highly useful and a tried and tested technique to warm up the body.

Next, make the players do long shuffles with turns in the middle. The players should be made to practice moving their legs backward and forward. It has the effect of toning the body in an effective and easy way. In the same way, high leg forwards and backwards is also very effective.

Tip 4: Stretch adequately and complete it in the approved manner. The legs benefit the most out of stretch hinge. Guarantee that all kids work out their hamstring, groin, calf muscles, and quadriceps without missing any of these. Stretching not only prevents injury but also increases the range of the muscles.

In soccer drills for youth, another important thing to ensure is that kids don’t do too much of anything. The kids get carried over in excitement and end up injuring themselves for no reason due to this.

Soccer Players – A Look At The Best In The Spanish League

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

There are lots of of soccer superstars plying their trade in Spain’s top division, and it is with good reason that it is regarded as the number one domestic league in the whole world. Listed below are the players who are currently regarded as the best of the best…

Messi : Spearheading Barcelona’s treble winning team of 2008-09, Argentinean Lionel Messi dazzled Europe with his creativity and flair. Still only 22, he is the current “World Player of the Year” and, if he remains injury free, he is likely to chalk up awards, goals and assists for many years to come.

Cristiano Ronaldo : Explosive power and blistering pace are what led to Ronaldo initially being signed by Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson. Now playing for the mighty Real Madrid, Cristiano Ronaldo is hoping to make as big an impact for el Madrid as he did in the famous red shirt of Man Utd.

David Villa : Playing for one of La Liga’s less glamorous teams, Valencia, David Villa Sanchez (to give him his full name) boasts an absolutely outstanding goals to games ratio. He was the winner of the “Golden Boot” for Spain at Euro 2008 and is expected in the near future to become Spain’s all time highest goal scorer. Equally dangerous with either foot, Villa consistently attracts attention from Europe’s top clubs, who are all eager to sign-up the prolific striker.

Kaka : Brazilian midfield maestro Kaka, is a playmaker of the highest calibre. Able to thread a pass through the eye of a needle, or dribble past several players in a row, Kaka was the darling of AC Milan and helped drive them to “Champions League” success in 2007. Now one of the jewels in Real Madrid’s crown, he aims to bring the La Liga title back to the Bernabau (where Real Madrid play their home games) after a few years absence.

44 years since England last won the World Cup

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

It has now been 44 years since England last lifted the famous World Cup trophy. Could they end this long and disappointing run by winning the trophy at this year’s World Cup in South Africa?  There are many passionate England fans who hope they can, for most they haven’t seen England win anything, therefore to win the greatest football prize on earth would be a dream come true.  With plenty of world cup packages on offer, you will get the chance to be right in front of the action at one of the spectacular new stadiums in South Africa.

England are guaranteed to play against the USA at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg, Algeria at the Green Point Stadium in Cape Town and Slovenia at the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Port Elizabeth.  The Green Point Stadium in Cape Town, in particular, is a completely new 70,000 seater, all weather and all purpose stadium. Its location couldn’t be more perfect, it is situated between Signal Hill and the Atlantic Ocean, and very close to the city centre and the Victoria & Alfred waterfront.England will be hoping to win Group C and qualify for the knockout stages. For the round of 16 game, if they finish top they will play the runner up in Group D or if they finish second they will play the winner of Group D. Group D is made up of Germany, Australia, Serbia and Ghana. It is very likely to be England v Australia at the in Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg.

England’s squad is as strong as it has been the past few years, with the likes of Rooney, Gerrard, Lampard, Terry and Beckham. They also have a very successful manager leading them for this campaign, Fabio Capello. Fabio has won lots of important trophies during his career. These include the Eufa Champions League and the Serie A title on a number of occasions for both Milan and Juventus. The England football fans world cup packages on offer can be great way to get to see these amazing players on display at the World Cup. If England are to win it, they will need to ensure their key players stay injury and suspension free both before and during the tournament. Whatever the outcome it is set to be a fantastic tournament for everyone involved. This could well be the year they win it.
