It’s not new for you to when I say, practice makes a man perfect. This for sure is applicable to the soccer practice sessions. The kids are hopeful of attempting something new in the field every single day. Nevertheless, it’s imperative that kids practice regularly the old techniques in soccer training as well that have been taught to them.
So here the difficult part for you is to ensure that kids don’t get bored practicing the same drills day in and day out. The following are a few tips that’ll help you perform practice sessions in an exciting, controlled, and an accepted manner.
1. This has already been highlighted as very important. You are the kid’s instructor and therefore they will imitate your actions. Be punctual on the field, show them your expertise with the ball, involve everyone in drills, and organize the sessions well. This has the effect of winning over the player’s confidence and respect.
2. Instruct the kids to bring their own ball to the field everyday. It is mandatory that every kid has a soccer ball. Keep some extra balls handy in case any of the kids fails to get his.
3. There are certain soccer moves that need to be practiced on a daily basis. Kicking, dribbling, passing, and throw-ins are vital elements of soccer practice. It’s imperative for the kids to practice these daily without fail. Initially, few of the kids might not want to take part in these but you must ensure that everyone pitches in.
4. When compared with soccer drills, include games more in practice sessions. The major reason is that games call for a lot more strength and judgment when compared with drills. In addition, you can research on new methodologies while maintaining the focus on soccer with games.
5. Regulation is of paramount importance for a team in order to be victorious. With children, it is common to make mistakes. Ensure that you nip all issues in the bud to whether big or small. But mind the method since you are dealing with young kids here and not adults.
6. During the training session, you will observe that there are some players who do not participate in the drill. Make sure that this is not the case. All the children should actively participate in the action. Instruct the players about their position on the field and make them responsible for it.
7. Never permit too much scrimmage. About 15 to 20 minutes at the end of the session is good enough. And a goalie is not required in scrimmaging. This will teach the kids to be good defenders.
8. Keep researching about the new games and drills. This is the most recommended way of keeping the students interested in the training sessions.
